My friend Kevin, who I met out West studying geology this past Summer, came up to Binghamton this past weekend and we spent an awesome day at Watkins Glen (Konrad and I recorded a split by the same title because it's such an awesome place, especially in Autumn. Please do yourself a favor and go). Anyway, on the drive up his brother showed us this song. Although it's not formally a song... It's actually just a bunch of postal workers in Ghana tapping away while they cancel stamps that come into their post office.
For one this jam is seriously awesome and secondly it brings to mind a really great point. My roommates have been historically annoyed by it but when I do my homework I tend to sing and act really silly to make the time go by better. Work feels a lot less like work when your jamming or having fun...
So so what if these postal workers' efficiency is slightly lower than that of an American postal worker? I'll bet anything that they have more fun and are generally in better spirits... plus imagine how much more pleasant going to the post office would be if everyone were jamming. In our American culture do we compromise happiness for efficiency too often?
ps. you should go to http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ and make this song into an mp3 to put on your iPod.
